The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
The shepherds just couldn’t stop praising and glorifying God. They were the first ones to see the Savior Jesus. They witnessed a glorious choir of angels singing God’s praise. They saw the fulfillment of wonderful promises from God, embodied in the baby in Bethlehem. This baby was their Savior. God had done it, fulfilling his promise to send a Savior. Now they had salvation. Of course they would praise and glorify God as they went back to their sheep, their job. Of course they would praise God in that place because of what he had done for them.
Where has God placed you in life? It might be school or at home, a job or hanging out with friends. There are so many places we will find ourselves this week and each of them is a place to praise and glorify God.
We have the same reasons to praise God as the shepherds. We’ve been blessed with a Savior and by his saving work we are free from sin and heirs of heaven. We are God’s children. We have his precious Word and the promises of God ring in our ears, fill our heart, and govern our life.
How can you praise God this week for all you’ve seen him do for you? How can you call attention to God for he has done for you? The opportunities for faithfulness, compassion, mercy, sharing your faith, and more are everywhere. Give him the glory and praise for all he’s done for you.
