Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
The Bible doesn’t sugarcoat bad things in life. It is pretty open when it talks about the mistakes people make and the messes they get themselves into. It is pretty clear that people who trust in God will experience difficulty in this life. Nobody is immune from the brokenness of this world.
Perhaps you can relate with your own life right now or at other times. Sometimes there are some messy things in our lives. Sometimes they are a product of our own making. Sometimes they come from other places. Sometimes there doesn’t seem to be a reason. Our lives are not immune from struggle either.
At the same time that is true, God’s people have every reason to give thanks, to rejoice, and shout to God with our praise. Why? Because God is God, the great King, the Savior, the one who is over all, through all, and in all.
God is the King over your sin. It does not stand a chance. It does not stick to you. You are free of its burden and guilt. God is King over your life. He promises all things, even the bad things, will work for your good. God is King over everything in your life.
Focus your faith on all that God is and all he does. He is King over everything and the God of your life. I pray that leads you into a greater thanksgiving throughout your whole life and in all circumstances you go through. God is your God and that will always be the case.
