As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Every Wednesday there is a blue truck that drives through our neighborhood with one purpose. The truck stops by every house and takes away the trash. All that stinky, rotting garbage, the things that are broken, the clutter we don’t want around, and other “stuff” is taken away.
Then, once the garbage man removes the trash, I don’t worry about it. I don’t think about it. I don’t concern myself with it. I don’t go looking for it and bring it back. When it’s gone, it’s gone!
That’s precisely what God has done with all the “trash” in your life. The Bible calls them sins and they are just like trash. Sins stink. They clutter our lives. They leave nothing but rot in a person’s heart and soul. Sins leave a stain on our hearts and lives. However, they are even worse than trash because they destroy our relationship with God. Our sins leave us deserving of God’s punishment.
But then the trash man, Jesus Christ, steps in and takes it all away. He removes our sin far away. It’s hard to describe. He doesn’t take the trash to a dump, but to a cross. He pays for them and then they are…no more. They are gone.
And guess what? Just like we don’t think about or worry about our trash after it’s gone, because Jesus dealt with our sin, we don’t need to think about it anymore. We don’t need to concern ourselves with it. We don’t go looking for it. Our sins are gone thanks to Jesus.
Life is so much better now!
